The Summit Police Department's Juvenile Bureau is committed to the positive development of the city's young people. The Juvenile Bureau is staffed by Detective Matthew Buntin.
The Juvenile Bureau investigates all juvenile related incidents and crimes within the city of Summit. The bureau also acts in a proactive manner to prevent juvenile crime. We also help parents with crisis children and incorrigible delinquents. The Juvenile personnel always works closely with the city's schools. Presentations are continually being made to students about different aspects of law enforcement.
The Detective Bureau conducts follow-up investigations of all criminal matters committed by or against adults.
All police and civilian reported incidents are reviewed and information is collected using investigative tools. Additional responsibilities of the Detective Bureau are as follows
Obtain and execute search warrants.
Recover and store stolen property.
Prepare investigated cases for prosecution and also assist in their prosecution.
Develop, secure and store evidence relating to criminal activity.
Perform other duties as assigned; background investigations, ABC license investigations, firearms applications investigations.
